In the US, nursing homes have been in existence for quite a long time already. Thats where most if not all US residents, bring their elders for accommodation, meals, nursing care, medical and rehabilitative services.
Although not as fully furnished and equipped as those in the US., we do have our own "homes for the aged" here in the Philippines,. And frankly, I still couldn't fully understand why some people have to place their elderly parents in nursing homes.
Not that i have anything against those people practicing such, ok? It's just that… for me, the idea of having to relocate elders to another place is like some way of abandoning them.
Well, for busy people who couldn't find time to take care and monitor their elders' medication and nursing care, nursing homes may be their best option.
But still, for a full blooded Filipina like me, moving your loved ones elsewhere is a tough decision to make.
